March 10, 2010  The MixTapes HOT again...it never went away. The twist this time is that its major artists, not up-coming artists who need the exposure, that are coming back to the old promo method. Big-timers like 50-cent, jay-z, krs-one all made their careers by getting out to the streets first. Now, guys like Lil Wayne are getting back into the ghetto-tape ring.
Hey, its a great way to show-off raw talent and bulk of material. It is also a way to conquer popular songs and challenge hot artists. Its a good way to pole-vault in the rat race of signed, unsigned, independent rappers.
